You will also find an online single ITIS Tax return which can be used by employers who only have a small number of employees.An employer who wishes to submit their ITIS information on paper will be supplied with the appropriate forms, on request.Once the employers information has been submitted there is an automatic transfer of all the employees tax deductions, thereby immediately updating their tax records. Any paper returns received from employers are data captured and verified and then dealt with in the same manner.The employer must provide each employee with an annual summary, within 30 days of the year end, of remuneration and tax deducted.When you employ staff in Jersey you must also register with the Social Security Department.A Social Security registration card is needed for each employee and failure to have this if paying someone for more than 2 working days is an offence.A Contribution Schedule must be completed on a quarterly basis. The first Schedule is sent to you after registration. Thereafter it will be sent to you in the middle month of each quarter.You must provide an employee with a written statement of the terms of their employment within 4 weeks of starting if they work at least 8 hours per week. The statement must give certain details and be signed by the employer.A variable hours contract or statement will be sensible for any casual staff.An employee must receive an itemised pay statement on or before each pay date. The statement must include:Gross wagesDetails of any deductionsNet wagesPayment methods and amounts if elements of the net pay are paid by different methodsEach member of staff must be paid at or above the prescribed minimum wage irrespective of the number of hours worked.Benefits in kind are anything not in the form of money that an employee or family member receives from the employee by virtue of the employees job. Significant items are taxed although the first ?£1000 of chargeable benefits each year is not subject to tax.
